Dual Servo Weld Gun
Automobile makers are always seeking solutions that reduce costs and increase productivity. Milco Manafacturing and Kuka Flexible Production Systems have jointly developed a
Dual Servo Weld Gun architecture that meets these requirements.
The Dual Servo gun is an excellent solution in applications where you have several welds that
are located closely together and are easily accessible. For example, underbody and rail assemblies have extensive welding that meets this description.
A Dual Servo gun is two weld guns with a single frame and one MFDC transformer.
• MFDC Transformer- Single primary connection with dual secondary circuits
• In-line Actuator- Includes an integral roller screw, motor and encoder
• Controller- Through the 7th and 8th axis of the robot or by the weld controller
• Equalization- Handled by the robot software or through an equalization package
• Available in both "C" gun and Pinch gun configurations
Utilizing a Dual Servo Gun offers serveral advantages:
• Increases Line Speed: Two welds can be completed in the same time it takes to make one weld with a standard weld gun. The guns can be fired simultaneously or individually.
• Cost Effective: Two weld guns can be replaced with a single unit and two robots can be replaced by one robot.
• Wide Range of Tip Forces: Each gun can provide tip forces of up to 2000 lbs.
• Flexibility: Both "C" Style and Pinch models are available with multiple gun throat sizes and configurations.
• Low Weight: Dual Servo weld gun configurations are relatively light so that a low capacity robot can be used. For example, a Dual "C" Servo gun weighs approximately 107 kg.
• Quick Change: The gun is equipped with a quick change adaptor system and a three sided robot mount (bottom and both sides of the transformer).
